Sunny Picnic was born on a beautiful summer day in 2010 when founders Emma and Jack Thompson were celebrating their anniversary at Bondi Beach. They had meticulously prepared a picnic but struggled with keeping their ice cream and fruit fresh in the Australian heat. This challenge sparked an idea: to create picnic solutions specifically designed for Australia's unique climate and outdoor lifestyle.
Starting with just a small workshop in Sydney where they designed specialized picnic baskets with built-in cooling compartments, the Thompson siblings began selling their creations at local markets. The vibrant, colorful designs quickly gained popularity among beach-goers and outdoor enthusiasts.
By 2015, Sunny Picnic had expanded to include specially crafted ice cream that maintained consistency in warm weather, along with partnerships with local fruit growers to provide the freshest seasonal produce for picnic packages.
Today, Sunny Picnic has grown into Australia's leading picnic experience company with operations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. We've hosted over 15,000 picnics and continue to innovate with new basket designs, ice cream flavors, and seasonal fruit selections that celebrate Australia's vibrant outdoor dining culture.
